Biotransformation of Monoterpenes by Polyurethane Foam-Immobilized Cells of Petroselinum crispum
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cells o f Petroselinum crispum cv. “Paramount” and “Plain-leaved” immobilized in polyure thane foam retained the biotransformational characteristics o f their freely suspended cells for certain monoterpenic substrates. Immobilized cells o f both cultivars were more efficient than their free cells in isomerizing geraniol into nerol, but less efficient (<60% ) in reducing the alde hydes, citral and citronellal. Maintenance o f the immobilized cells under the condition of growth limitation did not enhance the efficiency o f the biochemical reactions. Under the same condition, the freely suspended cells o f cult. “Paramount” exhibited higher efficiency (up to 1.6 times) o f biotransformation o f citral when compared to those in sucrose-supplemented me dia. This investigation lends support to the view that the biochemical productivity of cultured plant cells for especially monoterpenoids may not necessarily be improved upon immobiliza tion.

Immobilization of Streptomyces gulbargensis in Polyurethane Foam: A Promising Technique for L-asparaginase Production on
In the present study, Streptomyces gulbargensis and its mutant form, S.gulbargensis mu24, immobilized on polyurethane foam were investigated for the production of L-asparaginase using groundnut cake extract as medium. The medium with an initial pH of 8.5 was inoculated with free and immobilized cells separately and then subjected to fermentation by incubation at 40oC and shaking at 200 rev/min....
متن کاملEnhanced degradation of pendimethalin by immobilized cells of Bacillus lehensis XJU
A bacterium capable of degrading pendimethalin was isolated from the contaminated soil samples and identified as Bacillus lehensis XJU based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. 6-Aminopendimethalin and 3,4-dimethyl 2,6-dinitroaniline were identified as the metabolites of pendimethalin degradation by the bacterium. The biodegradation of pendimethalin by freely suspended and the immobilized cells...

In this work phytochemical, pharmacological and toxicological studies were carried out on Eruca saliva,Petroselinum crispum and Anethum graveolens alcoholic extract. LDso of these extracts can not be detected, when given orally in mice. These alcoholic extracts inhibit rabbit's intestinal motility . Eruca sativa extract stimulates the uterine motility of all stages of sex cycle, while Petroseli...
متن کاملCell Entrapment of Lactobacillus casei subsp. casei ATCC 39392 for Lactic Acid Production
In this study, lactic acid production by repeated batch fermentation using cell entrapped methods was compared. Barium alginate beads, agar gel and polyurethane foam cubes were employed as carriers to immobilize Lactobacillus casei subsp. casei for the purpose of L (+)-lactic acid production. Increasing concentrations of lactic acid during fermentation were better tolerated by barium alginate e...
